How to cancel a Webflow subscription: the short answer

To cancel a Webflow subscription, open the billing or plans area in your Workspace or site settings. Then downgrade to a free plan or cancel the paid plan before the next renewal date.

Site plans and Workspace plans are billed separately. Check which one you pay for, and cancel each one you no longer need. Webflow renames menus and settings from time to time, so this guide describes paths in general terms. It is written for site owners, Workspace owners and admins who pay for Webflow. It does not cover refund rules, tax treatment, Enterprise contracts or the steps of a migration to another platform.

Before you start

Before you change billing, get the right access and decide what happens to the site.

  • Access. Use a Workspace owner or admin account, or the login of the person who pays the bill. If billing options are missing, your role is the likely reason.
  • Timing. Note the renewal date and whether you pay monthly or yearly. Timing affects refunds and proration. Check the current refund and proration rules in the Webflow Help Center before you cancel.
  • The site's future. Decide on one option: move the site to another platform, hand it over to a new owner, or take it offline.
  • A backup. Export the code or CMS content you need. Exports have plan limits, so export while the paid plan is still active.
  • Store and CMS sites. Webflow supports e-commerce. Stores run on Webflow site plans, and the CMS is part of the Premium site plan, not Basic. You cancel or change a store or CMS plan the same way as any other site plan.

How to cancel Webflow subscription, step by step

Follow these five steps in order. UI labels can change, so look for settings named billing, plans or hosting.

  1. Find out which plan you are paying for.
  2. Back up what you need.
  3. Cancel or downgrade the site plan.
  4. Change or cancel the Workspace plan.
  5. Confirm the cancellation.

Step 1: Find out which plan you are paying for

Start in Workspace billing. It lists the sites on paid plans and the Workspace plan itself.

  • A site plan is hosting for one site. It covers the custom domain, bandwidth, and CMS or store features. Each site has its own plan.
  • A Workspace plan covers seats and team features across your sites.

The two plans are separate charges, and you cancel them in different places. Note who the billing owner is. If that person has left the company, fix ownership before you continue. If an agency or freelancer runs the Workspace, ask them to move the site to a Workspace you own, or confirm who pays, before anything is cancelled. Sites in someone else's Workspace may still be billed to you, so check your invoices and who pays for each site.

Step 2: Back up what you need

Export your CMS Collections and, if your plan allows it, the site code. The Designer saves as you work, but saving is not publishing, and it is not a backup. Keep your own copy before you downgrade.

Step 3: Cancel or downgrade the site plan

Open the site's settings, find the plans or hosting tab, and choose to cancel hosting or downgrade the plan.

In Webflow, hosting is the site plan, and you cancel it per site. If you run three paid sites, you make three changes.

Warning: the change usually takes effect at the end of the current billing period. After that, Webflow stops serving the site on your custom domain, and the project stays on a webflow.io address within free-plan limits. Confirm the current rules for your plan in the Webflow Help Center. If you are moving platforms, have the new site live before that date. Our Webflow vs Framer comparison can help if you are still choosing.

Step 4: Change or cancel the Workspace plan

The Workspace plan covers seats and Workspace features. You downgrade it from Workspace billing settings.

Cancelling a site plan leaves the Workspace plan active, and cancelling the Workspace plan leaves site plans active. If cost is your only goal, compare alternatives first: remove paid seats you no longer use, or switch the billing frequency.

Webflow's plan structure also changes over time. Its legacy Editor stopped being available on August 4, 2026 and was fully deprecated on October 5, 2026; client content editing now runs through the Content editor role on limited or client seats, per Webflow's deprecation FAQ. If clients edit your site, check which seats they use before you remove any.

Step 5: Confirm the cancellation

Check the billing page for the new plan status, and look for the confirmation email. Download the final invoice for your accounting. VAT and sales tax handling varies by market, so invoices in the US, EU, Canada and Switzerland can look different. If your company reclaims VAT or books software as an expense, check that the final invoice shows the correct company name, address and tax ID, and keep it with your records. Your accountant can confirm how to book the last billing period. After the renewal date, check once more that no new charge appears.

What changes after you cancel

The result depends on what you cancel.

OptionWhat happens to the siteWhat happens to billing
Site plan cancelledLeaves custom domain at period endSite plan charges stop
Downgrade to freeStays on webflow.io, free limitsSite plan charges stop
Workspace plan downgradedSites stay, paid team features goLower or no Workspace charge

After a downgrade, you keep the project and can still open it in the Designer within free limits. Webflow's Starter plan is free and includes a webflow.io domain, 2 static pages, 1 GB of bandwidth and limited CMS (20 Collections and 50 CMS items), per Webflow's pricing page. Prices as of October 9, 2026 (USD, as listed on the vendors' pricing pages).

Premium features usually stay available until the paid period ends. The exact details depend on plan type and timing, so check Webflow's help pages for your case.

How much Webflow costs, and when cancelling is the wrong move

What you pay for Webflow depends on your site plan, your Workspace plan, your seats and your billing frequency. Webflow's site plans are Starter (free), Basic and Premium. Team and Enterprise are sold as annual-contract plans. Prices change, so check the Webflow pricing page for current figures.

There is no true pause. A free plan keeps the project, but it takes the live site off your custom domain.

Use this cancel-or-keep check before you decide:

ChoicePick it whenTradeoff
Keep the planThe site still brings in leadsYou keep paying
Downgrade to freeYou may reuse the projectNo custom domain
Cancel the site planThe site has moved or closedHosting ends at period end

If cost is the reason, try two things before you cancel: remove unused sites and seats, or switch to yearly billing.

If the site underperforms, check the structure before you blame the platform. More examples are in our case studies. Our Arcline CRM concept study, not a client project, shows what we mean: a homepage rebuilt to explain the offer, show proof, then pricing and one demo CTA. Switching platforms wouldn't fix any of that.

Frequently asked questions

Does Webflow allow Ecommerce?

Yes. Webflow offers Ecommerce through its site plans, and the pricing page shows which plan covers a store. You cancel a store plan like any other site plan, as described in Step 3.

How do I cancel my hosting subscription?

Cancel the site plan in that site's settings, under plans or hosting. Hosting is billed per site, so repeat the process for each site you no longer need (see Step 3).

Does Webflow automatically save changes?

Yes, the Designer saves as you work. Saving is not publishing and not a backup, so export what you need before you downgrade (see Step 2).

How much is Webflow?

The cost depends on your site plan, Workspace plan, seats and billing frequency. Prices change, so check Webflow's pricing page for current figures.

When to get help

To recap: confirm which plan you pay for, back up your content, cancel each site plan you no longer need, then change the Workspace plan and keep the final invoice. Get help if you are cancelling because the site no longer does its job, since rebuilding the structure may help more than leaving the platform. Get help too if you need a clean handover or a migration that keeps the site online between the old host and the new one.

A Webflow site the team can run themselves

We built Simca's Webflow site from a finished design. The job was the build: turn the design into a fast, maintainable Webflow site that the client team can update themselves. The client's team owns the content, so a good Webflow handover lets them run the site without calling a developer for every change.

Webflow websites from Waves Creative

Waves Creative is a Warsaw studio of senior specialists. We join your team and handle brand, website and marketing end to end. You work directly with the two founders. Vlad Levun leads design, and Maria Fedosenko leads marketing and strategy. There are no account managers in between.

After launch we stay on for SEO, campaigns and site improvements.

Landing pages typically start at €1,000. A one-page site can be completed in 3-4 business days. Full websites typically run in sprints of 3 weeks or more. Every project is custom: we start with a first call, then send a tailored offer. We do not take small-budget projects or clients from unethical industries.

Every site we build has clear positioning, a deliberate CTA hierarchy with one primary action per page, and tracking so you can measure and improve results. See how we approach B2B website design.
