The short answer

Webflow fits teams that want design control, a structured CMS and a site that grows with a content program. Wix fits teams that want a simple, all-in-one site live quickly, with little design work. In the Webflow vs Wix decision, the deciding factor is how much control and structure your site needs. We build on Webflow, and in some situations Wix is the better choice. This guide is for teams choosing a platform for a company marketing site; it excludes ecommerce, apps and Enterprise plans.

Key takeaways

  • Webflow: design control, linked Collections, per-locale localization.
  • Wix: quick launch, bundled plans, built-in tools.
  • Either way: switching platforms means a rebuild.

Who each platform fits

Use the Build-Edit-Grow test: who builds the site, who edits it, and how much must it grow?

Where Webflow fits

Webflow suits growing companies with a marketing site, a content program or more than one locale. It works best when a designer or agency owns the build and wants control over layout, components and page structure. Once that structure is set, marketers edit content through the Content editor role, inside the fields and pages the build allows. More people can publish, and the design stays intact. We design and build client sites on Webflow, from design and development to CMS setup and QA. Our hands-on work is on Webflow; the Wix points here come from Wix's own help pages.

Where Wix fits

Wix suits small businesses, solo founders and simple sites that need to go live quickly. Its templates and built-in tools cover a lot of ground without design or development support. Choose Wix when speed and low setup effort matter more than structural control.Wix Studio is Wix's platform for designers, developers and marketers working with clients. It suits agencies that want more design control while staying inside the Wix ecosystem.

Webflow vs Wix pricing: what drives the cost

Both platforms charge for a site plan first, then for what a growing team adds. On Webflow, Basic has no CMS (content management system), so a content site needs Premium, which costs more as you choose higher bandwidth tiers up to 2.5 TB. Seats are billed separately: Full seats cost $39 per month billed yearly or $45 monthly, and Limited seats for content editing cost $15 or $19. Localize is billed per locale: Essential is $9 per locale per month yearly or $12 monthly for up to 3 added locales, and Advanced is $29 or $35 for up to 10. The Team plan is listed at $2,500 per month on an annual contract, with 2 locales included and more for a separate fee.

Wix plans (Light, Core, Business and Business Elite) bundle hosting and built-in tools. Storage scales from 2 GB on Light to unlimited on Business Elite, and collaborators scale from 2 to 100. For a growing company, seats, CMS items, bandwidth and localization drive the cost. Compare what each plan includes alongside the headline price.

Design freedom

Webflow gives designers more control. In Webflow you control layout, classes, components, interactions and custom code on a visual canvas. The cost is a steeper learning curve and a need for discipline, since a build full of one-off classes gets hard to maintain.

Wix is template-led and quicker to assemble. Wix Studio gives designers more control, and Velo by Wix adds JavaScript, including a Node.js-based server-side runtime, for custom functionality. The limit is how far you can customize structure and components when you need a bespoke design system.

Many sites never reach that ceiling. A local service business, a portfolio or a small company site often needs no custom component library. If your design is a template in your brand colors, Wix handles it.

CMS and content

Both platforms store structured content in collections, but Webflow builds more of the site around them. A Webflow Collection defines fields for posts, case studies or team members, and one template page designs every item. Collections can reference each other, so a case study can link to its industry. Premium includes 40 Collections and 20,000 CMS items.

Wix's CMS also uses collections, managed separately from the editor, and connects them to dynamic pages. A Wix site has a total quota of 298 pages, up to 100 of them static, and each dynamic page counts as one page.

For editing by marketers, Webflow uses the Content editor role on limited or client seats. The legacy Editor was retired in 2026. On Wix, owners use Roles & Permissions to control who can change the site and dashboard. For localization, Webflow Localize is billed per locale. Wix has multilingual tools, so check its current limits before you plan many languages.

SEO

Both platforms give you the technical SEO controls a company site needs. Webflow lets you set meta titles and descriptions per page and per CMS template, and manage canonical tags (the preferred URL of a page), 301 redirects, sitemaps and schema markup. See Webflow's SEO documentation for the exact controls.

Wix keeps a sitemap that updates automatically, sets a default canonical you can change, and creates a 301 when you change a page slug. Its redirect manager allows up to 5,000 redirects, and 301s work only with custom domains. Custom structured data must be JSON-LD, with up to five markups per page. The default meta description is blank, so fill it in.

Webflow's CMS templates give more structural control at scale. For a small site, Wix is sufficient. A person still has to handle search intent, content quality, internal linking, site architecture and measurement.

Performance and hosting

Hosting is managed on both platforms, so there is no server to set up. Webflow says its hosting combines AWS infrastructure with Cloudflare's global CDN (content delivery network), and every paid site plan includes free, auto-renewing SSL/TLS certificates. Its pricing page lists a 99.00% uptime SLA on the Team plan and 99.99% on Enterprise.

Wix delivers content through a CDN from the server closest to the visitor, enables HTTPS with a free SSL certificate on every site, and states 99.99 percent server uptime.

Page speed depends on the build as much as on the host. Image sizes, third-party scripts, apps and embeds all add weight.

Integrations

Both platforms connect to a typical marketing stack, but the paths differ. Forms, analytics and tag management such as Google Tag Manager work on both, through built-in settings or custom code.

For CRMs on Webflow, HubSpot has a Marketplace app that embeds HubSpot forms, maps native Webflow form submissions and adds tracking without custom code. Salesforce has no official Webflow app, so use third-party apps such as Form Connector, Web-to-Lead forms or the APIs. Pipedrive connects through its embeds, Zapier or Make, or the APIs.

Wix has an app market for marketing tools, stores form entries in a submissions table and connects to other apps through Zapier. Its HubSpot and Salesforce integrations are documented for Wix Studio enterprise accounts.

Migration between Wix and Webflow

Moving between Wix and Webflow means a rebuild.Wix states its sites cannot be exported and must be hosted on Wix's servers, and there is no one-click design transfer in either direction.

Going from Wix to Webflow, you rebuild the design, recreate the content structure as Collections, then export and re-import the content. Going from Webflow to Wix, you rebuild in Wix and set redirects in its URL Redirect Manager. Either way, map every old URL to its new one and set 301 redirects to protect search visibility.

The main risks are lost URLs, broken forms and tracking, metadata that does not carry over, and a launch without a redirect check. Test forms, events and redirects before launch, then check again after.

Choose Webflow if many people will publish structured content over time; choose Wix if your site is simple, rarely changes and must launch quickly.

When to choose which

Choose Webflow if:

  • You run or plan a content program with posts, case studies and resources in structured collections.
  • You need a multilingual site and can budget for Localize per locale.
  • A designer or agency leads the build and wants control over components and layout.
  • Your content types relate to each other, such as case studies linked to industries.
  • Marketers should edit content through the Content editor role without touching the design.

Choose Wix if:

  • You need a small, simple site with few pages.
  • No one on the team designs or develops, and a template is enough.
  • You need to launch quickly with minimal setup.
  • You want hosting and business tools in one place.
  • Your budget is tight and a bundled plan covers what you need.

Frequently asked questions

Is Webflow harder to learn than Wix?

Yes, generally. Building in Webflow requires an understanding of layout, classes and page structure. Marketers who only edit content day to day need far less training than the people who build the site.

Is Wix Studio the same as Wix?

No. Wix Studio is Wix's platform for designers, developers and marketers who build sites for clients. This comparison covers both and names Wix Studio where the difference matters, such as the documented CRM integrations.

Can marketers edit a Webflow site without a developer?

Yes, through the Content editor role on limited or client seats. Marketers update text, images and CMS items within the structure the build sets up, and the ?update shortcut opens quick editing on the live site. Structural changes still need a designer or developer.

Do I need a developer to launch on Webflow?

Not always. A simple site can be self-built if you take time to learn the tool. Complex sites with many collections, locales or integrations benefit from an experienced Webflow designer or developer who plans that structure from the start.

What this looks like in practice

We built FBA's multilingual Webflow site: we rewrote the positioning and copy, redesigned the site architecture and rebuilt it in Webflow with SEO set-up and conversion tracking. For Simca, we turned a finished design into a Webflow site the client team updates themselves. See our work.
