The best B2B marketing agency for your company is the one whose team, process and proof match your buyer journey (the steps a buyer takes from first search to signed contract) and your budget. A spot on a ranking list shows who is visible. It says nothing about who fits. This guide compares agency types, lists what to check before you shortlist, and explains how pricing and timelines usually work. It is for founders and marketing heads at B2B companies choosing an outside team. It does not rank named agencies or cover in-house hiring in depth.

Key takeaways

  • Judge fit, not ranking position.
  • Ask who does the work, by name.
  • Expect positioning before design, and tracking planned from day one.
  • Treat guaranteed rankings or revenue as a red flag.

What makes the best B2B marketing agency

The best agency fits how your buyers decide, what you can spend and who you need doing the work. Four signals separate a good fit from a good pitch.

  • Senior people do the work. The people on the sales call should be the people designing, writing and planning. When briefs pass through account managers to a team you never meet, context gets lost.
  • Positioning comes before visuals. A strong agency asks who you sell to, what buyers compare you against and what one action each page should drive. Campaigns and design come after.
  • They are honest about limits. No one can guarantee rankings or revenue. An agency that promises either is selling confidence, not a plan.
  • Proof is specific. Look for work that shows what changed: the message, the page structure, the tracking. Logos alone prove nothing about your project.

Ranking lists and directories help you find names, but they cannot tell you whether a team understands your sales cycle, markets or budget. Use them for a long list, then apply the checks below.

AI search is also changing how buyers find agencies. Assistants summarize options instead of listing links, so your site needs clear, specific positioning for them to describe you accurately. Ask any agency how it would make your site clear to AI search as well as to Google.

Agency types compared

No one agency type fits every company. These comparisons are our own experience-based view, not drawn from published sources.

TypeBest forWatch out for
Specialist (content, SEO or paid)Deep skill in one channelRelies on a site and message built by others
Full-service networkLarge budgets, many marketsAsk who delivers: the pitch team may not be the delivery team
Brand, website and marketing studioOne team owning the full journeyFewer projects at once
In-house hireDay-to-day executionOne person, one discipline

Hiring separate agencies for brand, website and marketing can work, but each handoff is a point where messaging can shift and tracking can be added late. One senior team that handles all three can keep positioning, page structure and measurement consistent.

For buyers in the US, the Netherlands, Germany or Canada, agency location matters less than three practical points:

  • Language: can the team write clearly for your buyers, in every language your site needs?
  • Time zone overlap: are there enough shared working hours for weekly reviews and fast decisions?
  • Tracking setup: will they configure analytics and consent correctly for your markets? Cookie consent rules differ by market (strict opt-in in the EU/EEA and UK), so plan tracking for where your visitors are.

Plan procurement, consent and sales cycle together. Your procurement rules decide who signs off and when, consent law in your markets limits what tracking can see, and your sales cycle defines which events count as progress.

What to check before you shortlist

We call this the five-check shortlist. The checks follow the order a website project runs in: team, message, conversion path, measurement, proof. Check them in this order before an agency makes your shortlist.

  1. Who does the work. Ask for the names and roles of the people on your project. If the answer is "a dedicated team" with no names, keep asking.
  2. How they define positioning. Ask how they decide what your homepage says first. Good answers mention your buyers, your competitors and your sales conversations.
  3. How they plan the conversion path. Ask how a visitor moves from first visit to a demo, call or form. Look for one primary action per page and a clear CTA hierarchy, meaning the order in which you ask visitors to act.
  4. How they track results. Event tracking in Google Analytics 4 should be planned from day one, with Google Search Console set up alongside it, not added after launch (see our guide to Google Analytics in Webflow). Ask what they will measure, such as form submissions, demo bookings and key CTA clicks, and under which attribution model (the rule for crediting a lead to the touchpoints before it). In markets that require consent, banners limit what is measured, and GA4 Consent Mode fills some gaps with modelled data. Ad blockers and cross-device, multi-touch B2B journeys (several people and visits before one deal) all leave gaps, and a good agency names them.
  5. What proof they show. Ask for work close to your situation, and ask what they did, step by step. You can see ours in our case studies.

Ask for the process in weeks, not adjectives: what happens in week one, and what must be agreed before design starts.

Red flags:

  • Generic claims that could describe any agency
  • Guaranteed rankings, leads or revenue
  • No named team
  • Fixed packages that ignore your business model and sales cycle

To score a shortlist, rate each of the five checks as strong, partial or missing, and drop any agency with a missing answer on who does the work or how results are tracked. Copy this checklist into your brief or RFP:

  1. Your buyers, markets and languages
  2. Current site, GA4 and Search Console access
  3. Budget range and decision deadline
  4. The one action each key page should drive
  5. Who on your side signs off

How pricing and timelines usually work

Pricing depends on scope, and most senior-led studios quote only after they understand your business. Here is how it works at Waves Creative, as one reference point. These are our own typical starting points, not market averages.

ScopeTypical modelTimeline
Landing page or one-page siteFrom €1,0003-4 business days
Branding projectCustom offer, project sprints3+ weeks
Full websiteCustom offer, project sprints3+ weeks
SEO, campaigns, site improvementsCustom offer after launchOngoing, based on data

In our experience, many senior studios send a custom offer for brand or website work after learning your business, because a small service site and a multilingual site with a CMS and integrations are different projects.

Do not compare agencies on a headline price alone. Ask what is in scope: positioning, copy, design system, development, QA and tracking setup. A lower quote that leaves out copy or tracking can cost more once you add them back.

Small-budget projects are a poor fit for senior-led studios. For a template tweak, hire a freelancer or use a site builder.

What a good engagement looks like

A good engagement starts with listening and produces an agreed plan in the first week. This is the sequence we follow at Waves Creative:

  1. First call. We learn your business, goals and audience.
  2. Custom offer. We work out what you need and send an offer built for it, not a fixed package.
  3. Kickoff week. You give us access to your current site, GA4, Search Console, brand materials and sales insights.
  4. Agreed scope, timeline and definition of success: everyone knows what is being built and by when.
  5. Weekly progress. The founders show progress every week.

A good partner also joins your calls and channels and works alongside your team, rather than returning weeks later with a big reveal.

After launch we stay on for SEO, campaigns and site improvements, guided by real data from your analytics.

A relevant example: FBA

Our work for FBA shows what one senior team handling the full journey looks like.

We rewrote the positioning and the copy, so the site states clearly who FBA serves and why. We redesigned the site architecture and navigation, so buyers find the right path without hunting. Then we rebuilt the multilingual marketing site in Webflow, with SEO setup and conversion tracking planned as part of the build, not added after it.

A different starting point: for Simca, the design was already finished. We built Simca's Webflow site from that design, so the client team can update it themselves. That is the model when you already have a designer and need a senior build partner.

Why work with Waves Creative

Waves Creative is one option to judge on the same criteria as any other agency on your list. We are a small, senior-led studio in Warsaw. We join your team and handle brand, website and marketing end to end: one senior team instead of separate agencies.

  • Who does the work: two founders. Vlad Levun leads design. Maria Fedosenko leads marketing, creative ideas and strategy. You work with them directly, with no account managers in between.
  • Senior skills without two hires: you get senior design and marketing without hiring both roles in-house.
  • Services: Brand & Identity, Webflow Websites, SEO & Content and Client Acquisition, sold separately or together. See how we approach B2B website design.
  • Your existing team: we work alongside your designer or developer, or build from a design you already have.
  • After launch: we stay on for SEO, campaigns and site improvements.

We do not take on clients in unethical industries or small-budget projects. We do not guarantee specific revenue or conversion numbers. We commit to structure: clear positioning, a deliberate CTA hierarchy with one action per page, and tracking so results can be measured and improved.

Whichever agency you choose, run the five-check shortlist, send your brief and compare scope, not headline prices. If Waves Creative fits your situation, book a 30-minute call.

FAQ

Will you work with our team?

Yes. We join your calls and channels and work alongside your people. If you already have a designer or developer, we work with them or build from their design, as we did for Simca.

Can we start with one service?

Yes. Most clients start with a brand or a website. Each part is built to connect to the next, so adding SEO or campaigns later does not mean starting over.

Do you offer support after launch?

Yes. After launch we stay on for SEO, campaigns and site improvements. The work is based on real data from your analytics, not assumptions.

Do you guarantee results?

No. No one can guarantee rankings or revenue, so be wary of anyone who does. We commit to clear positioning, one action per page and tracking so results can be measured and improved.

Should we hire an agency or build in-house?

It depends on the work you need. One in-house hire typically covers one discipline. With us, you get senior design and marketing from the two founders without making two hires.

How we checked this. The advice comes from our own client work; anything we say about other companies comes from their own published pages. Spotted an error or an outdated price? Email hello@wavescreative.co and we will correct it.
